So, if you’re reading this on my website, what you see here is just a published slice of it. A pretty small percentage, actually. After a few failed attempts to publish my “second brain” in full, I decided to keep certain parts hidden. Especially the highlights — since they might look too much like content scraping or violation.

First of all, I am a true podcast addict. I keep my podcast higlights at Highlights/Podcast folder. I am using Matter (reader app) as podcast listening app which makes me to highlight everything important. And I used Snipd before. To pay tribute to them, I was very happy to have Snipd as it was more than nothing era. But Matter is easier to use with it’s web app and more simple.

And there are other highlights there as well. From Youtube, Readwise, Hypothesis. I am organizing Wikipedia highlights seperately.

After gathering all those bit size informations, next mission is to organize them. Those organization is very personal and here is my personal taste:

Highlights

This is the main folder that I keep learning by consuming contents. Podcast >highlight/podcasts Youtube >highlight/youtube
book >highlight/book audiobook >highlight/audiobook course >highlight/course Wikipedia >highlight/wikipedia Even twitter >highlight/twitter (I will keep refering it Twitter as soon as it is legal) And you can find them under Highlight folder all organized. Within that folder, everything you can find is not my words, which means I learned it from someone else. Which is I believe good way of seperating others ideas and my thoughts. And as I said, I decided to not publish that segment because it might be violation to copyrights for some of them. And actually that would make that website a couple of gigabyte instead of a couple of hunded megabyte :)

People

In this folder, you can find people :) I think most important thing is from which mouth I heart or read that information. It is more important than a book or podcast for me. But for today I am failing to connect all the highlights to people. People folder is more like a list of people I learned something about them or learned something from them.

Organizations

That folder contains both companies and any kind of organizations. Like political parties, non-profits. But not countries.

Wiki

This is my personal wikipedia fork. For example, If I am learning something about Zen buddhism I tends to connect those notes to that main topic. And to organize topics, I couldn’t find a better common ground database than Wikipedia. So, I am trying to keep them same name as in Wikipedia. Things like countries, cities, art movements. Or things about software, engineering, design and so on.

Products

As I am an engineer, I generally tends to list products or gather detailed information about them. So they can easily be part of Wiki folder, but for me they are as important as being a different object type.

Calendar

I am also obsessed with being able to see everything in timeline. I am trying to connect my highlights to dates. And I am also trying to catch all the relevant information I learned grouped by centuries >calendar/century, decades >calendar/decade, years >calendar/year. For example, for any spesific year you can at least find If I read a book from that year or watch a movie.
I know it is a bit psychopatic to keep records of every day, I might change that structure later. But for now, it feels nice to check a day from calendar and quickly see what I read or listen on that day. Or quickly see how many times I referenced to 19th century

Artifacts

I can find a better name but that folder means creations made by humans. Like books, art pieces, movies , Podcast or youtube shows.

Notebook

Here I have interesting experimentation. I have pages >note and chapters >note/chapter. So every page mean I will or I already did take a notes about something. And I am trying to use my words and taking notes to that folder. And it would be nice to keep those pages organized within chapters.

And I came here from Notion. I am going to transfer everything to here. It is going to take some time, but gonna worth it.
