of Sigmund Freud

Freud’s “seduction theory” from the mid-1890s proposed that hysteria and obsessional neurosis came from hidden memories of early childhood sexual abuse. Initially, Freud believed his patients were recounting real experiences of abuse, thinking such events caused many of their mental health issues. However, he soon changed his view, concluding that these memories were more likely imagined fantasies, not actual events.

But for today, we had disgusting statistics about child abuse. You can find a couple of links in references, but it is still a major problem for humanity.
