UWB operates across a very large frequency spectrum (typically from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz)

Traditional radio sends information by varying the power or frequency of a continuous wave. UWB, however, sends billions of incredibly short pulses (each lasting only a nanosecond or less).

Because these pulses are so sharp and distinct, they don’t “smear” or get confused by reflections off walls as easily as continuous waves do.
